what we are doing today!!

Today we are all in our groups and working hard we have Jonas, nick and Mathew working on our buoy we put it in the water the other day and it leaked so there fixing it up real nice another group is Alexis, jade, won and Kathrine are working on a power point to present to the call going over everything we have learned so far the next group is hank, Connor and Kylan  working on building a unit its always good to keep those skills sharp the next group is Katie, randy and Darius are working on the twitter you should go check it out @WEWHxHs and the last group is the blog group Cassidy ,Paige and Kathrine writing this awesome blog your reading right now.

11/4/14

Today we hiked down to the creek again the tempature outside is 52 degrees fahrenheit, the water is still flowing noth east, Mrs. Johnston gave us a lecture on what kind of forest we live in and all the kinds of forest and such after the lecture we went to the place we have picked out for the buoy and we did some looking around to see what we could find we found giant leaves and animal bones that we later found out where dear bones, you never know what you are going to find in the woods. it was a really pretty day we all layered up with clothes because we thought it would be cold but it ended up being kind of hot.

11/3/14

today we hiked down to the creek to check it out and see what is going on and we found that the creek was flowing north east, the tempature of the creek is 10 dergees celsius, the PH level is 6.8 and the tempature outside is 46 degrees fahrenheit. on a side note the leaves are falling it seems really fast this year and there everywhere around the creek and it makes the creek look to pretty.

the creek

part of the creek

the creek

the creek has gotten pretty low in some parts to the point where it just looks like mud.

the creek

the creek has gotten a little dirty from flooding and then draining really fast.

the creek

the level of the creek on the trail to the place we are placing the buoy.

Our hike to the creek on Monday

The water flow is very very slow almost stagnant. The water level is at its original bank and is at it's original depth. Weather  outside is around 60 degrees F, cloudy and foggy. Tearance Darius and Randy are testing the water tempurature and PH level. At one spot the temperature was 59 degrees F, and the PH was 7.1 at the other spot the creek water was 60.5 degrees and PH was 6.7

Building the buoy 10/16/14

today we are building the buoy and jonas's parents came in to help us jonas's dad helped do a lot of the hard work like cutting pip and and such but nick and Jonas did lots of work to help to like drill the holes and help with clean up so the room wouldn't be to messy and at the end of it all our buoy was built we aren't going to test it yet but soon we will.

the creek when it rained

We hiked down to the creek to check it out because it rained a lot the past few days its usually 6-12in deep but the day we hiked down it was 5-7ft deep and the creek smelled a lot and the current was stronger.

10/13/14

Mrs. Patterson-Johnston, Mrs. Perdue, and Matthew went to Home Depot and acquired the materials needed to build the buoy.

we will be learning to use Lab Quest and it will test the Ph level, conductivity, and temperature of the water. Once this is done it will make a graph of the slight changes we see week to week and eventually day to day changes.

Alexis, Amber, Katherine, and Jade are going through and making a list of possible things that could go wrong with the buoy once we set it up. We want to make sure we have the best product before we set it p and if something does go wrong we need a plan of how to deal with it.

9/29/14 we split up into focus groups

Amber and Katherine researching water quality and abandoned coal mines in the Chattanooga, TN.

Juan and Kylan are testing the ph levels and temperature in the water with our probes to make sure they work.

Cierra and Paige are researching the air quality for Chattanooga

Connor, Mrs. J, Nick, and Matthew are making a list of things to order so we can build the buoy and also the things we need to build our arduino.

Also as usual Sara and Katie are working on our twiiter and I am working on the blog. Cassidy is out today and Jaylan is helping me.
